ARA will be accepting United Healthcare starting January 1, 2025
We are pleased to announce that ARA Diagnostic Imaging has reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare, effective January 1, 2025.
We want to ensure you – our patients – that you still may access your trusted ARA providers for high-quality radiology services that are crucial to your health and well-being.
As we continue our relationship with United, we are excited to keep serving you and your family.
Insurance carriers that WILL allow ARA to obtain insurance authorizations
ARA can obtain authorizations for the insurance providers below but the referring physician’s office must provide ARA with the patient’s clinical information in order for us to obtain them.
PLEASE NOTE: It can take up to 72 hours to obtain authorization after the insurance company has received clinical information.

Insurance carriers that WILL NOT allow ARA to obtain insurance authorization
Payer guidelines require the referring physician’s office to obtain authorizations for these plans. Please consider the risk of allowing outside entities to obtain authorization on your behalf without the approval of the insurance company. Only the companies listed above allow ARA to obtain authorization. All others require you as the provider to obtain authorization.
BCBS (varies by state) – Initiate a request online at the Carelon Provider Portal or call 1-800-859-5299.
City/Travis County MAP Card – Can be obtained by calling 512-324-3135.
Veterans Administration – Can be obtained by calling 254-743-1683.
Veterans Choice/TriWest – Can be obtained by calling 855-722-2838

If your carrier is not listed here please contact the ARA Authorization Department at 512-493-5821, option 2, as we update contracts daily.
If you need to have your carrier send information to our authorization fax line, please use fax 512-977-8200.
