Corey Area, MD

Dr. Corey Area is originally from New Orleans and attended Louisiana State University. He initially came to Texas for his residency at Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson, where he served as chief resident. He then moved to Chicago to complete his fellowship at the prestigious Northwestern program, prior to returning to Texas and joining ARA.

Although Dr. Area enjoys variability in his practice, his specific clinical interests include interventional oncology, with a special focus on minimally invasive hepatocellular carcinoma treatment as well as the growing field of musculoskeletal intervention and genicular artery embolization. Dr. Area values patient independence and strives to develop strong patient relationships. Helping patients navigate their complex medical problems and offering minimally invasive solutions is the most rewarding component of his job.

Outside of work Dr. Area is passionate about traveling, having visited 32 countries on 6 continents. He is an outdoor enthusiast and avid music lover. In his free time, you can find him riding his bike, enjoying the lake, or catching a concert.
