First ARA Diagnostic Imaging Grant Recipient Named
Nov. 12, 2019 – The R&E Foundation is thrilled to announce Charlotte Yuk-Yan Chung, MD, PhD, Emory University School of Medicine, as the inaugural recipient of the Austin Radiological Association (ARA Diagnostic Imaging)/RSNA Research Resident Grant. Dr. Chung is investigating prediction of CT perfusion arterial and venous time-attenuation curve parameters using deep learning systems: Proof-of-concept for Developing a Personalized CT Perfusion Protocol for Acute Stroke Workup. Dr. Chung will be working with scientific advisor Elizabeth Krupinski, PhD, a researcher in radiology and imaging sciences at Emory University.
ARA has led the way in Foundation support since the Visionaries in Practice (VIP) Giving Program debuted 15 years ago. A steadfast donor ever since, ARA blazed the trail again in 2015 by becoming the first private practice group to commit to funding a named grant award.
The research resident/fellow grant awarded to Dr. Chung provides investigators a chance to explore powerful ideas. Working alongside an experienced advisor, trainees gain insight in research methods and techniques; it is a catalyst to pursue research at a critical point in a radiologist’s career. The one-year grants range from $30,000 to $50,000.
