The Mammo Minute: Why Screening Mammograms Should Be Part of Your Self-Care Routine

Dr. Arthy Saravanan explains why screening mammograms should be a part of your self-care routine

Hi, my name is Dr. Arthy Saravanan.

Welcome to the “Mammo Minute.”

Today’s topic is going to be “Why screening mammograms should be part of your self-care routine.”

When you think of taking care of yourself, you may think of exercise, eating right, mani-pedis, and getting some downtime for recovery.

All great stuff!

But I’d like to add something – Getting regular screening mammograms!

Maybe you’ve heard the phrase “Your future self will thank you,”

And with mammograms, this could be true in a big way.

You could save your own life.

In fact, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.

That’s a pretty high percentage.

And you probably know people who have had breast cancer.

But when you catch breast cancer early with a mammogram, you have a 98% chance of surviving, and you may need less aggressive treatment.

You just have a better chance at a healthier life and getting a mammogram is so easy.

At ARA, you can be in and out in 30 minutes and it’s just a lunch time commitment.

We have 13 locations that offer mammography across central Texas.

There’s likely to be a center near your home or work.

We recommend that you get a mammogram every year starting at the age of 40 and yearly thereafter.

If you’ve skipped your mammograms lately, get online now and make your appointment!

Do it for yourself.

You don’t need a provider referral.

As long as you’re able to tell us what provider to send the report to.

Go to ausrad.com/scheduling and get started now.

Thank you for tuning in, and make sure you get your mammogram scheduled!
