NeuroInterventional Surgery

Neurointerventional surgery (NIS) utilizes minimally invasive surgical techniques that are the latest advance in medicine. These procedures offer minimally invasive alternatives to traditional open surgical procedures of the head, neck and spine. NIS procedures are generally easier for patients because they involve small incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times than traditional open surgery. The neurointerventional surgeons at ARA are licensed medical doctors with board certification in diagnostic radiology, have advanced fellowship training in neurointerventional surgery, and are seniors member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS).

Neurointerventional surgical procedures include brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and tumors in the brain, neck and spine. Minimally invasive surgical techniques are used to treat acute stroke and can reverse stroke symptoms when treated within 15 hours of the onset of a stroke. Arterial stenosis in the arteries of the neck and brain can also be treated using neurointerventional surgical techniques.
