Jaime H. Contreras, MDJAIME CONTRERAS, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Jaime Contreras to the neuroradiology team. Dr. Contreras comes to us from Advanced Medical Imaging Consultants in Fort Collins, Colorado. He completed his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, followed by an internship at Texas Tech University, El Paso, in 2001. During his residency at the University of Chicago from 2001 to 2005, the Department of Radiology awarded him the Chien-Tai Lu Award for his outstanding clinical work in vascular and interventional radiology. Dr. Contreras completed fellowships in neuroradiology at Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, from 2005 to 2006 and neurointerventional radiology at Stanford University Medical Center, Palo Alto, from 2006 to 2007. He is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and holds a Certificate of Qualification in Neuroradiology. In his spare time, Dr. Contreras enjoys mountain biking and road cycling. He loves outdoor activities with his wife and three kids and is looking forward to the Austin lakes and trails.

ADITI A. DESAI, MD
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aditi A. Desai has joined ARA as part of the breast imaging team. Dr. Desai comes to us directly from her faculty appointment as a clinical instructor in breast and body imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). She consistently studied at VUMC where she earned her medical degree from 2007 to 2011, followed by an internship in internal medicine from 2011 to 2012. She stayed at VUMC for her residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in women’s imaging, completed in 2017. Dr. Desai has a strong leadership background, with post-graduate training including courses at the VUMC Owen Graduate School of Management and multiple levels of leadership practicums at the Radiology Leadership Institute of the American College of Radiology. She has participated in research activities such as a comprehensive time-driven, activity-based costing analysis of screening and diagnostic mammography at the Vanderbilt Breast Center, and helped implement a study in chemical exchange saturation transfer MRI of breast cancer-related lymphedema at Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science. Dr. Desai has earned multiple honors and awards during her educational and leadership journey, and has been published extensively in medical journals. Dr. Desai’s hobbies include traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband, young daughter, and sweet Bernese Mountain Dog. She also enjoys literature in multiple languages and speaks French and Gujarati.

Ryan M. Durel, MDRYAN M. DUREL, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Ryan Durel to the neuroradiology team. Dr. Durel comes to us directly from his neuroradiology fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed his medical degree in 2012 at Louisiana State University Health and Sciences Center in Shreveport, followed by a categorical internal medicine internship and diagnostic radiology residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Durel’s accomplishments include publications in The Ochsner Journal: “Chance Fracture of the Lumbar Spine” and “Emphysematous Cystitis.” He presented at the American Society of Neuroradiology Annual Meeting in 2017 on “Disseminated Leptomeningeal Hemangioblastomatosis without a History of Von Hippel-Lindau.” He also presented a poster to the ASNR 2018 annual meeting and won Magna Cum Laude for “Glioma 2HG Imaging: Basic Principles, Clinical Implementation, and Interpretation Tips.” Dr. Durel’s personal interests include grilling, movies and traveling. He also loves spending time outdoors with his wife and dogs.

Alan Emerson Evans, MDALAN EMERSON EVANS, MD
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alan Emerson Evans has joined ARA as part of the breast imaging team. Dr. Evans comes to us directly from his breast and body imaging fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. He completed his medical degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine (OSUCOM), followed by a transitional year internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. His diagnostic radiology residency was completed in 2017 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.   Dr. Evans has a strong leadership background as the co-founder and co-president of the OSUCOM Interventional Radiology Interest Group from 2011 to 2012 and the co-president of the Northwestern Medicine Underrepresented Residents & Fellows Forum from 2014 to 2015. He published several scholarly papers, including “A Comparison of Retrievability: Celect versus Option Filter” in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and has also presented “Machine Learning: Principles and Fundamental Considerations,” at Northwestern Radiology Departmental Grand Rounds, in Chicago, Illinois. His professional areas of interest are 3D tomosynthesis and breast MRI. Outside of his radiology education, Dr. Evans was active in community service as a board member of the Illinois Chapter of America Needs You (ANY) from 2015 to 2017. ANY is a non-profit organization that provides mentorship and intensive career development to help low-income, high-potential college students reach their professional and personal ambitions. In addition to mentorship, Dr. Evans’ personal interests include art, music, water activities, biking, travel and technology.

A. KARL HASSELBACH, MD
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Anthony Karl Hasselbach has joined ARA as part of the breast imaging team. Dr. Hasselbach comes to us directly from his breast imaging and body MRI fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. He earned his medical degree in 2012 at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed a transitional year internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Dr. Hasselbach’s scholarly activities include publications in theAmerican Roentgen Ray SocietySPIE Medical Imaging and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He has presented a number of abstracts for resident education including, “Breast MRI: problem solving or more problems?” and “Percutaneous Ablation of Breast Cancer: a case for cyroablation.” Dr. Hasselbach has specialty training in contrast enhanced mammography and molecular breast imaging, plus core capabilities in breast biopsy. He is certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology. During his free time, Dr. Hasselbach enjoys playing golf and traveling to Colorado for skiing, fly fishing and hiking.

GIOVANNI G. MILLARE, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Giovanni G. Millare to the Emergency Radiology team. Dr. Millare comes to ARA as a practicing radiologist from Wilford Hall Ambulatory and Surgical Center at Lackland Air Force Base and San Antonio Military Medical Center. He earned his medical degree at Perpetual Help College of Medicine in Laguna, Philippines, from 1984 to 1988, followed by a rotating internship at Hospital Ng Maynila in Quirino Avenue, Philippines. He continued to complete a transitional residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, a family medicine residency at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and a diagnostic radiology residency at University of Texas Health and Science Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Millare completed his fellowship in neuroradiology at Baylor College of Medicine in 2012. Dr. Millare has been published in multiple medical journals including American Journal of NeuroradiologyJournal of Solid TumorsNeurographics and Case in Point on a variety of head and neck topics. He has also presented at a number of professional conferences on topics such as “Hypopharyngitis in theImmunocompromised Patient: Spectrum of Imaging Findings” and “Acute Non-Traumatic Emergencies of the Head and Neck: A Pictorial Review.” Dr. Millare is board-certified in diagnostic radiology with a certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology. Dr. Millare has just retired from a very active and successful U.S. military career, beginning in 1998. His career included deployment to Iraq in 2009 and earning the Most Outstanding Air Force Staff Radiologist award in 2013. Dr. Millare and his wife, who is also a doctor, have four children, all of whom are in various stages of pursuing medical degrees.

Krishna Surapaneni, MDKRISHNA SURAPANENI, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Krishna Surapaneni to the neuroradiology team. Dr. Surapaneni comes to us directly from his faculty appointment as associate professor of radiology at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree in 2004 at Ross University School of Medicine, followed by an internship in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. He stayed in New York to complete his radiology residency at Long Island College Hospital/SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn from 2005 to 2009, and a neuroradiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center from 2009 to 2011. Dr. Surapaneni’s scholarly activities include publications in Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, Neurosurgery, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He earned a Cum Laude Award in 2008 for “Head and Neck Infections: Patterns of Spread and Complications,” presented at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 94th annual meeting. He was also awarded the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award by the RSNA Research and Education Foundation in 2009. Dr. Surapaneni is certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology with a certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology. When he is not working as a radiologist, Dr. Surapaneni enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, playing squash, and being outdoors.

RYAN W. VANCURA, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Ryan Vancura to the interventional radiology team. Dr. Vancura comes to us from Killeen, Texas, where he has been practicing interventional radiology with Diagnostic Radiology Specialists. He completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, then did a transitional year internship at the University of Hawaii, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at Oregon Health and Science University, completed in 2012. Dr. Vancura did fellowships in interventional radiology at the University of California, Los Angeles from 2012 to 2013 and in neuroradiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Vancura initiated an interventional radiology program at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen. He has expertise in peripheral artery disease, venous insufficiency and acute and chronic venous thromboembolic disease and further skills in kyphoplasty, UFE, varicocele, renal, liver and spine ablation, liver embolization, dialysis access maintenance and other core IR procedures. Aside from board certification in Diagnostic Radiology, Dr. Vancura has holds Certificates of Added Qualification in Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology. In his time off, Dr. Vancura enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, photography, being outdoors and gardening.

Wallace, Jason MDJASON R. WALLACE, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. JasonWallace to the body/cross sectional radiology team. Dr. Wallace is an experienced practicing radiologist who has worked previously at Tualatin Imaging in Portland, Oregon and was the co-founder of Radiology Specialists of Central Texas, a group providing imaging services to imaging centers in the Austin/San Antonio region. Dr. Wallace completed his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, then did a transitional year internship at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, Connecticut. He did his residency starting at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and then returned to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for completion. Afterward, Dr. Wallace did a body imaging fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Wallace is proficient in all areas of imaging and specializes in body imaging, including image-guided procedures such as drainages, biopsies, arthrograms, myelograms, steroid injections and aspirations. In his spare time, Dr. Wallace enjoys traveling with his family, hiking, biking and live music.
