Aldred, BoothBooth W. Aldred, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Booth Aldred to the neuroradiology team. Dr. Aldred comes to us directly from his fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston from 2006-2010, followed by an internship at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Dr. Aldred completed his residency in radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine from 2011-2015.

Dr. Aldred’s last professional position was as physician director at the Project Reality Rehab Clinic in Salt Lake City, where he managed and trained seven physicians. He won the Global Health Award and the Eccles and Marriot Library Award for his teams’ “Bench to Bedside” entry in medical device competitions. He has been extensively published in various professional journals, including Evidence-Based Imaging, the American Journal of Neuroradiology and STROKE and also presented at a number of professional conferences, including the American Society of Neuroradiology, American Society of Spine Radiology, and the Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Aldred is board-certified in diagnostic radiology.

Dr. Aldred’s experiences previous to his medical career are varied and include volunteer firefighting, leadership in the Outward Bound Program, a Spanish-language immersion program and a career as a professional ceramics artist in Dallas. Now, when he is not working as a radiologist, he enjoys ceramics, gardening and outdoor activities with his wife and two children.

Jebb Baker IV, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Jebb Baker to the pediatric radiology team. Dr. Baker comes to us directly from his fellowship in interventional radiology at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his medical degree at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, then did a transitional year internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington where he also completed a residency in diagnostic radiology. Dr. Baker did a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Seattle Children’s Hospital/University of Washington from 2015 to 2016.

Dr. Baker has been active in research and publication, including a presentation at the Radiological Society of North America titled “Correlating volumetric MRI measurements of cerebral atrophy with clinical disability in multiple sclerosis,” in 2013 and the publication of “Brief intervention for perpetration of intimate partner violence (IPV): simulation versus instruction alone,” in the Southern Medical Journal, June, 2011. His scholarly activities include neuroradiology conference presentations in cases including PVNS of the cervical spine, spinal canal hemorrhage, paraneoplastic syndromes, transverse myelitis and leukodystrophies.

When he is not working as a radiologist, Dr. Baker enjoys cycling, swimming and running around after his four children.

Chen, Sue SiSue Si Chen, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Sue Si Chen to the breast imaging team. Dr. Chen comes to us directly from her fellowship in women’s imaging at the University of Pittsburgh Radiology, Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC. She earned her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine at St. Louis in Missouri in 2011. Next, she completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Pittsburgh Radiology, finished in 2016.

Dr. Chen has been active in research and publication, including a piece in Radiographics titled “Amyloidosis: modern cross-sectional imaging” in 2015; a presentation on “Thoracic manifestations of amyloidosis” at the Radiological Society of North America 2013 conference; an abstract presented at the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting in 2009 titled “One-year follow-up study of culturally sensitive collaborative treatment (CSCT) for Chinese Americans with depression;” “Kidney fibrosis in hypertensive rats: role of oxidative stress,” published in the American Journal of Nephrology in 2008; and “Cardiac fibrogenesis following infarction in mice with deletion of inducible nitric oxide synthase,” published in the American Journal of Medical Science in 2008.

Dr. Chen is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Nimisha Doshi Khanna, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Nimisha Doshi Khanna to the breast imaging team. Dr. Doshi comes to us directly from her fellowship in breast imaging at Duke University Medical in Durham, North Carolina. She attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, from 2003 to 2007, followed by an internship at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Doshi did her residency in diagnostic radiology at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City from 2012 to 2014 and at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix from 2014 to 2016.

Dr. Khanna’s research experience includes presentations on “The Role of Tomosynthesis in Everyday Clinical Breast Imaging” as well as “The role of MRI as an adjunct to ultrasound in non-CNS fetal anomalies” at the Radiological Society of North America meeting in 2013. She also presented “The Ras/Raf Signaling Pathway Mediates PEDF Synthesis in Human Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells” at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting in 2009. Her publications include “Marchiafava-Bignami Disease,” a Case-in-Point study for the American College of Radiology in 2014, as well as contributions to a book chapter in Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System in 2014 and a piece “Zinc supplementation decreases oxidative stress, incidence of infection, and generation of inflammatory cytokines in sickle cell disease patients” in the Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine in 2008.

When not working as a radiologist, she enjoys spending time with family, food, travel, hiking, and movies.

Khanna, DohitRohit Khanna, MD
ARA welcomes Rohit Khanna, who is reading hospital and after-hours file in neuroradiology and other areas. Dr. Khanna comes to us directly from his neuroradiology fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. He attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit from 2007 to 2011, followed by an internship at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan. Dr. Khanna did his residency in diagnostic radiology at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix where he served as chief resident from 2015 to 2016.

As a resident, Dr. Khanna spent time as a clinical instructor, helping to introduce fourth-year medical students at The University of Arizona to the field of radiology. He also served as a radiology representative on the house staff leadership council and participated in research in neuroradiology and pelvic floor MRI.

When Dr. Khanna is not working as a radiologist, he enjoys playing golf, running, basketball, hiking, traveling and spending time with family.

Klysik, MichalMichal Klysik, MD
ARA welcomes Dr. Michal Klysik to the neuroradiology team. Dr. Klysik has recently been an attending radiologist at Singleton Associates radiological group in Houston. He attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock from 2004 to 2008, followed by an internship at that institution. Dr. Klysik did his residency in diagnostic radiology and an abdominal imaging fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver from 2009 to 2014 then completed a fellowship in neuroradiology at St. Joseph’s Hospital Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.

Dr. Klysik been published in the International Journal of Radiological Imaging Technology, Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics, the Annual Thoracic Surgery Journal, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Molecular Endocrinology Journal, Geomics, Fertility and Sterility and others. He has presented a number of times on such topics as Incidental non-cardiovascular, non-pulmonary findings identified in a CT lung cancer screening population: prevalence and clinical implications at the American Roentgen Ray Society meeting in 2014 and Review of isolated limb perfusion in treatment of locoregional metastatic melanoma at the Radiological Society of North America meeting in 2011.

Dr. Klysik is adept at performing a number of procedures including CT/US guided biopsies and drain placement, central line placement, thoracentesis, paracentesis, diagnostic cerebral angiograms, myelography, discography, image-guided lumbar puncture/blood patch, and nerve root blocks.

When Dr. Klysik is not working as a radiologist, he spends time with his wife and 2-year-old daughter. He enjoys exploring Austin, traveling, marathon running and hiking.

Longenecker, LorenLoren Longenecker, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Loren Longenecker to the musculoskeletal radiology team. He comes to ARA directly from his fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Longenecker went to the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate degree and earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He went on to complete an internship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and stayed at the University of Utah from 2012 to 2016 for his diagnostic radiology residency, serving as chief resident. Dr. Longenecker worked as a radiologist with the Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt, Utah, and at Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, California. During his fellowship, he read imaging studies for the San Diego Chargers and Padres.

He has been published in the American Journal of Roentgenology, Neurology, and Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, and has presented abstracts at a number of professional conferences, including the American College of Radiology and the American Society of Spine Radiology. Dr. Longenecker was very active in teaching and professional associations throughout his studies and is excited to continue those endeavors at the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin.

During his free time, Dr. Longenecker enjoys University of Texas sports, skiing, golfing and the outdoor life that Austin provides.

O'Brien, Seth MDSeth O’Brien, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Seth O’Brien. Dr. O’Brien was a practicing radiologist with M&S Radiology/Baptist Health System in San Antonio. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, in 1998. Next, he did a transitional internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, and a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, finishing in 2006.

Dr. O’Brien has been published extensively in medical journals, including the American Journal of Roentgenology, Emergency Radiology and Military Medicine on a variety of musculoskeletal topics. He has also presented on such topics as “MRI determination of patellar malalignment and associated soft tissue abnormalities,” and “Anomalous muscles of the ankle: How to recognize them on MR imaging and clinical relevance.”

Dr. O’Brien has served in the US Army medical services in multiple capacities, including Chief of Musculoskeletal Radiology at Brooke Army Medical Center from 2008 to 2009, Chief of Radiology at the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq in 2009 and Associate Program Director, Emergency and Trauma Radiology Fellowship at the San Antonio Military Medical Center from 2011 to 2015. He is certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology.

Passanante, GiovanniGiovanni Passanante, MD
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Giovanni Passanante has joined ARA as of July 2017. Dr. Passanante comes to us directly from his fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Southern California (USC).

He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Medicine degrees from UCLA. After medical school, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, followed by a year of training in anesthesiology at Stanford University. He then completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at USC, where he stayed for a fellowship in interventional radiology.

During his training at USC, Dr. Passanante gained ample experience in interventional oncology, intravascular management of traumatic hemorrhage, emergency management of gastrointestinal hemorrhage as well as common and complex percutaneous image-guided urological and biliary interventions. Additional areas of interest and experience include venous and portovenous interventions, uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization, and percutaneous CT-guided tumor ablation.

Dr. Passanante completed two mini fellowships in emergency radiology and musculoskeletal radiology and has several publications in national and international medical journals. Most recently, he published in Emergency Radiology on imaging of shoulder injuries, specifically IGHL complex injuries, and authored an article in Skeletal Radiology on iliotibial tract injuries.

Saravanan, ArthyArthy Saravanan, MD
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Arthy Saravanan to the breast imaging team. Dr. Saravanan comes to ARA directly from her fellowship in breast imaging at the University Health Network at the University of Toronto. She completed her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2011, then went on to a transitional year residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. She did a residency at Aultman/Mercy Hospital/Northeast Ohio Medical University in Canton, Ohio from 2012 to 2016.

Dr. Saravanan has extensive research experience obtained during her education, including studies in quality improvement, renal cell carcinoma and genitourinary oncology. Her academic publications include “The Radiologic Manifestations of Renal Cortical Necrosis,” an ACR Case-In-Point; “Communicating Difficult News,” in the Journal of American College of Radiology; and “Techniques, safety and accuracy of sampling of renal tumors by fine needle aspirations and core biopsies,” in the Journal of Urology. Dr. Saravanan was given the RSNA Resident Research Award in 2016 and the Young Woman in Science Award by the American Medical Women’s Association in 2013.

Besides practicing radiology, Dr. Saravanan enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two little girls, and follows interests in track and badminton, as well as Indian dance choreography. She was named Mrs. India International in 2014. She is conversational in Hindi and Tamil.

Ashkan Shademan, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Ashkan Shademan to the body/cross-sectional imaging team. Dr. Shademan comes to us directly from his fellowship in abdominal imaging and cross-sectional interventional radiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. His medical degree is from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran, earned between 2001 and 2008 and followed by two years of internal medicine residency at Penn State University, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Shademan did his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia in Richmond from 2012 to 2016, where he was chief resident from 2015 to 2016.

From 2009 to 2010, Dr. Shademan worked with the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, as a research fellow on the myositis MRI project. He was also a research fellow in abdominal imaging during his time at the Hershey Medical Center. Other research accomplishments include “Evaluation of Dysphagia with Esophagography: Findings in 527 Patients,” an abstract presented at the 2016 Society of Abdominal Radiology meeting; “Pitfalls in CT Diagnosis of Appendicitis: Pictorial Essay,” published in the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiology Oncology, 2013; and “Magnetic Resonance Imaging Assessment of Inflammatory Myopathy: Quantitative Fat-Corrected Muscle T2 and Conventional T2 Measurement vs. Standard MRI and Clinical Metrics,” published in Arthritis & Rheumatism, 2012.

Dr. Shademan is also a singer and composer, with expertise in guitar and piano.

Spiridonov, StanislavStanislav I. Spiridonov, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Stan Spiridonov to the molecular imaging and nuclear radiology team. Dr. Spiridonov comes to us directly from his fellowship in nuclear medicine at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis in 2011. He then completed an internship and residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland where he served as chief resident during the 2015-2016 academic year.

Dr. Spiridonov has been published in a number of professional journals including Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Orthopedics & Traumatology: Surgery & Research, Arthroscopy and American Journal of Sports Medicine.

In 2017 he received the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in recognition of outstanding radiological research related to neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). While in medical school, he received the prestigious “Excellence in Research” award, presented annually at the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Spiridonov is fluent in English and Russian. When he is not working as a radiologist, he enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and traveling with his wife Abbigail. They enjoy skiing, surfing, biking, scuba diving, and playing golf.

Stahl, CosetteCosette M. Stahl, DO
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Cosette Marie Stahl has joined ARA as part of the interventional radiology team. She received her doctor of osteopathy from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) in 2011. After a general surgical internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver in 2012, she completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of California San Diego from 2012 to 2016.

She then completed advanced training in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Washington in Seattle. Interventional procedures of special interest include uterine fibroid embolization, prostate embolization, tumor ablation, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts, and vascular malformation therapies.

Dr. Stahl has published several scholarly papers, including “Radiation Risk to the Fluoroscopy Operator and Staff,” and “Radiation Protection for the Fluoroscopy Operator and Staff” in the American Journal of Roentgenology. Awards received include the Dean’s Teaching Award (CCOM), the Outstanding Surgical Intern Award (St. Joseph), the John R. Amberg Award for Clinical Excellence (UCSD), and the Program Director’s Award for Teaching (UCSD). During her training she has been acknowledged for strong leadership, as the president of the San Diego House Staff Association and as the radiology representative for Graduate Medical Education Committee.

Aside from academic pursuits, Dr. Stahl enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her family, friends, and poodle. She is an avid skier and cyclist, and aspires to become a balanced yogi.

Subedi, ShreeShree Krishna Subedi, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Shree Krishna Subedi to the molecular imaging and nuclear radiology team. Dr. Subedi comes to us from his position as a diagnostic radiologist with the Sanford Health system in Minnesota and his academic position as clinical assistant professor of radiology at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. His medical degree was earned from 1999 to 2004 at the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Science in Dharan, Nepal, where he also completed an internship in 2005. Dr. Subedi did his residency in preliminary surgery at New York Hospital Queens, Weill Medical College, Cornell University, New York City, followed by two years of residency in nuclear medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, finishing in 2011. He subsequently completed residency training in diagnostic radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. He is dual board certified in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine.

Dr. Subedi’s research experience includes “Validation of the accuracy of Standard Uptake Values calculated using Segami software,” “Parathyroid scintigraphy and ultrasound in the evaluation of patients with hyperparathyroidism,” “Outpatient treatment of hyperthyroidism: how to protect the public,” plus many others. He has been published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology, Annals of Vascular Surgery, Journal of the Nepal Medical Association and the Journal of Society of Surgeons of Nepal. He has co-authored a textbook, A Textbook of Biology and also published Review of Biology, in Nepal.

When Dr. Subedi is not working as a radiologist, he enjoys travel, sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jeff P. Wood, MD
ARA is pleased to welcome Dr. Jeff Wood to the musculoskeletal imaging team. He comes to us directly from the Stanford University Department of Radiology, after serving as a junior faculty member and completing his fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology. Throughout his fellowship he diagnosed and treated not only Stanford University athletes but also many other professional athletes, including the San Francisco 49ers.

Dr. Wood previously attended medical school at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine from 2007 to 2011, where he subsequently completed his five year residency in diagnostic radiology. Prior to his medical studies, Dr. Wood was an undergraduate football player, and additionally earned a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology.

During his residency, he received multiple teaching awards and was voted “Resident of the Year.” Dr. Wood also initiated, led and taught interdepartmental “High Value Rounds” in a variety of subjects. He has been a radiology lecturer for medical students, radiology residents and many other medical specialties throughout his residency and fellowship.

Some of Dr. Wood’s recent research experience include the following articles: “Musculotendinous Injuries: Sonographic-guided Interventions” published in Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology; “5-Minute Comprehensive Knee MRI with Double-Echo Steady-State (DESS)”; and “Distal tibial allograft for glenohumeral instability: Does radius of curvature match?” both published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

When Dr. Wood is not working as a radiologist, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, playing and watching nearly every sport, working on home renovation, cooking, traveling and playing the ukulele.
