CT Arthrography

A needle is introduced into a joint and iodinated contrast is injected, under fluoroscopy guidance. The contrast outlines the joint capsule, ligaments, and articular surfaces. Shortly after the injection, a Computerized Tomography (CT) examination is obtained. Ligament tears and cartilage abnormalities are well demonstrated with this technique in a cross sectional plane.
